Special Congratulations are in Order...the Denver Post has announced:
Katie Cordova- 2009 4A Gymnast of the Year
Stacey Folmar - 2009 4A Gymnastics Coach of the Year
Elizabeth Cardinals - Class 4A Gymnastics State Champions
The Elizabeth Cardinals Gymnastics Team finished an amazing season with soaring performances by all. On Saturday, November 7th the Cardinals won the Class 4A State Title with a team score of 179.475, beating second place Pueblo Central by almost 5 points!
This was the perfect ending to what has been an exciting and successful season. In addition to the Team Title, Katie Cordova walked away with the 4A Individual All-Around Title and the Uneven Bars Title and also placed 2nd on Floor Exercise and Balance Beam. Her teammates followed suite and helped pack the awards stand with Cardinal Red & Black with Danae Goldsberry placing 2nd in the close competition for the All Around Title, as well as earning the Floor Exercise State Title, and placing 2nd on the Uneven Bars and 3rd on Vault. Amy Button earned the State Title on Balance Beam and also placed 6th in the All-Around competition, as well as 5th on the Floor Exercise. Teammate, Shayna Beshore placed 4th in the All-Around competition, 3rd on Balance Beam, and 4th on Vault. Lindsay Bradford and Megan Crooks, both EHS Seniors placed also, with Lindsay in 5th on Vault and Megan in 6th on Floor Exercise.
Congrats to the entire Elizabeth High School Gymnastics Team – you all worked hard all season and the results prove it! Enjoy every moment of this victory and accomplishment…you are the STATE CHAMPIONS!
